Athletes who want to play sports in college have a major challenge ahead [Statistic on Playing sports in College]. This is why Help U provides the services that make Student Athletes stand out from the pack. Here is a sampling of the services Help U offers to athletes:
- School Lists: Help U will compile a detailed list of schools for clients based on a myriad of the student's interests, goals, athletic aspirations and school location. As students work with their Help U representative to hone in on their prospective school, Help U provides all pertinent information on each college or university. Such information includes financial information, school statistics, requirements and contact information for potential coaches. The School List takes the guess-work out of the college search process, and provides all pertinent information to both students and parents.
- Mentoring: Student Athletes have high aspirations for their athletic careers, and with proper mentoring, Help U can help make these goals more viable. In working with Help U, students are taught to empower themselves by developing their talent in the sport of choice, while building their overall athletic skill by practicing other sports. Help U also teaches student clients to emphasize their academic performance, community service regimen and overall professionalism in their focus towards college athletics.
- College Selection Guidance: Students are overwhelmed with the enormous opportunity that lies ahead. Colleges present themselves in the most attractive way to potential students, so Help U is an excellent source of unbiased information to students and their families. Furthermore, Help U representatives are able to devote more time to their students than high school counselors; as such, many high school counselors are eager to collaborate with Help U reps to most effectively help student athletes.
- Athletic Portfolios: Part of the college application process includes a protfolio to submit to college coaches. Because many coaches concentrate their recruitment activites in large cities and communities throughout the US, it is important for students who are not being actively recruited to seek out coaches where they want to play. Excellent presentation is key to gain coaches' attention in these cases, and Help U takes students step-by-step through compliling a package that will impress. The Athletic Portfolio includes all of the elements that coaches want and need to see from potential athletes, and Help U ensures that the package is professional and welll-received.
- College Prep Program: Akin to helping students through the difficulties of college selection comes the College Prep Program, which Help U designed especially to help clients with their goal-setting, academic, and athletic pursuits. Help U provides a College Prep Workbook, which takes students step-by-step from their first year of high school to graduation. The Prep Process is insightful and introspective; Help U allows the students to explore their interests for their athletic and professional futures, and this detailed process creates well-rounded, responsible young adults. Positive reinforcement assures active participation in the college prep program by students.
- Mock Interview Process: An element that sets Help U far apart from other colleging counseling programs is the Mock Interview Process, that trains young athletes for interviews with prospective college coaches. This unique approach treats the entire process as job interview preparation; the student will build a professional resume, assist in compilation of their athletic statistics and biographies, and have hands-on practice and instruction on how to best complete an interview. These skills will aid students beyond college athletic interviews, as interview skills will assist the students throughout their professional lives.
